The story of the Air Jordan 1 High OG
When Nike signed Michael Jordan in 1984, the league fined him for wearing shoes that broke uniform color rules, and Nike happily paid the fines and ran ads about it. Peter Moore's design, released to the public in 1985, became the best-selling basketball shoe of its era and the foundation of the entire Jordan Brand. Retired and revived repeatedly since, the AJ1 High OG jumped from hardwood to skateboarding to high fashion, with collaborations from Off-White, Travis Scott and Dior pushing single pairs into the thousands of dollars. Original colorways like Chicago, Bred and Royal remain the most requested retros in sneakers, and nearly every new drop still sells out instantly.
