The story of the Air Jordan 3 Retro
The Air Jordan 3 of 1988 is the shoe that kept Michael Jordan at Nike. Tinker Hatfield, an architect by training, took over the line and introduced elephant print, visible Air, and the first appearance of the Jumpman logo. Jordan wore the White Cement 3 while winning the 1988 Dunk Contest from the free-throw line, cementing the model in basketball lore. Mars Blackmon ads by Spike Lee made it a pop-culture fixture. Retros of the original White Cement, Black Cement, True Blue and Fire Red colorways remain benchmark releases, and the 3 is widely considered one of the greatest sneakers ever designed.
