The story of the Air Jordan 8 Retro
The Air Jordan 8 of 1993 is the loudest of the championship-era Jordans: crossing straps, a chenille tongue logo and graffiti-like midsole graphics. Jordan wore the black-and-red Playoffs pair while completing the first three-peat, then shocked the world by retiring. The straps gave real lockdown but made the 8 the heaviest Jordan yet, and its maximalist look fell out of favor for years before 90s nostalgia brought it roaring back. The Aqua colorway, with its purple-and-teal flash, is the model's enduring signature.
