The story of the 991
The 991 launched in 2001 from New Balance's Flimby factory in England, and UK production gives it a different soul: denser suedes, muted palettes, terrace credibility. It was Steve Jobs's actual daily shoe in his final years. Aime Leon Dore's 2021 collaborations made the 991 a global grail, and Made-in-UK pairs remain the connoisseur's New Balance.
